Why are there differences in the ply's of yarns? One company rates a yarn as 2ply and the next company will call that a 4ply?

What needles should I use to knit mohair?
We suggest that wood or bamboo needles are best as mohair can tend to slip on the needles
Will the yarn "split" when knitted?
The yarn may split if you knit without watching the yarn. If watching the yarn, there should be no problem.
Colours on the website
Please be aware that screens and printers vary and that the actual yarn may vary slightly in colour to the colour displayed on the screen. We do spend a lot of time trying to get colours on the website as close as possible to the actual yarn colours. We do this by colour balancing our photo sessions, and checking the results across a number of different monitors. But because of the difference in monitors there will still be a slight difference. If you are very concerned about this, there is the option of purchasing a sample card from us.
Do we mules our goats/sheep?
No we don't. In order to combat the problem of flystrike in the goats, we wig and crutch or part shear the goats. This is where we trim the hair on the head so that they can always see and also we shear the underbelly and the back end of the goat. We do not fully shear the goats all the time. It depends on the weather. If the weather is uncertain and may turn cold, we will not fully shear the goats. By part shearing the goats, they stay warm but we remove the areas that attract flystrike.
What is blocking?
Blocking is the process of wetting the garment and then laying it out flat, stretching into shape and then leaving to dry. If you are blocking shawls or scarves, you can use stiff wire or blocking wires to thread through the edge and then pull tight and pin into place (eg on a carpet floor with a plain sheet covering). This will “set” your garment and you will find that it will show the lace patterns better.

Can I order the same dye lot? and if so how do I order the same dye lot?
If you have run short for your project it is best to contact us first before ordering to see if we still have the same dye batch on hand. Then when you order, we will know to supply that particular dye batch
Do we supply different dye lots in the same order?
No we don't, not unless we have asked you first.
How do I redeem a Wagtail Yarns Gift Card?
At Checkout, enter the Voucher number that you have. The amount will then be deducted from the total order amount.
Are all items shown on the website always available to be sent?
No, we do not run a Stock system with our website. The reason for this is because we are the maker of all the articles for sale on the website, and we can just make what you have ordered. Bespoke Yarns and Garments. Generally there is very little wait for this to happen. But if we do need to make an item for you, the delivery time will be discussed with you and you will be given options.
